How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is an orthodontics treatment used to align your teeth and bite. This treatment uses clear, removable aligners as opposed to fixed metal brackets and wires like traditional braces.

Invisalign aligners are custom-made based on your unique teeth. When you wear your aligners, gentle pressure helps move your teeth to their intended position. Wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours a day is recommended in order to achieve optimal results.

You will be given a new set of aligners as your teeth shift throughout the process.

Consultation

During your consultation appointment, we’ll go over the Invisalign process, expectations, and cost to ensure you feel confident and comfortable with this treatment. We encourage you to ask us any questions you may have at this time, and our friendly team is happy to provide you with more information.

Creating a Plan

Once we’ve determined you’re ready to begin the Invisalign process, we’ll start with a 3D scan of your teeth. This series of detailed images are necessary for creating the custom aligners that will gradually straighten your smile.

It can take a couple of weeks for the aligners to be made. When they are ready, we’ll schedule you for a fitting.

Fitting Your Aligners

Coming in for a fitting will help ensure your aligners sit securely over your teeth and are trimmed correctly around the gums. The specialized plastic material is designed for your comfort, but it’s important to note, like with any change, it takes a little time to get used to.

Following Up

Throughout your Invisalign journey, we’ll schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments. Typically, these appointments are scheduled 6–8 weeks apart until your treatment is complete.
